Monsters Close Weekend in Hamilton

MATCHUP
Without a win over their last five games, the Lake Erie Monsters (9-7-1-1) hit the ice at 4:00 PM against the Hamilton Bulldogs (6-7-1-1) at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton for the first of eight meetings this season between the two clubs. The Monsters were 7-1-0-0 against Hamilton last season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Monsters fell at home a night ago to the Rockford IceHogs by a 4-3 score in a shootout.  Mike Sgarbossa scored twice in the third period on the power play to tie the game for the Monsters.  Brad Malone scored a goal; his fourth of the season.  Tyson Barrie and Karl Stollery each had a pair of assists for the Monsters, who are now 4-1 in shootouts this season.

WHO TO WATCH: MONSTERS
Sgarbossa leads the Monsters with 17 points in 18 games.  A night after picking up a pair of assists, Sgarbossa was back at it with two goals.  He's showing early in his pro career that he can beat opponents in several different ways.  Last year's OHL scoring champion has six multi-point games this season after two points in each of his last two games.

WHO TO WATCH: HAMILTON
If Hamilton coach and former Monsters and Avalanche assistant coach Sylvain Lefebvre calls his number between the pipes, former Monsters goalie Cedrick Desjardins is one to watch.  He is off to a good start in his second tour of duty in the Montreal Canadiens organization.  Desjardins started his season late, but is 2-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.
