Monsters Fall to Chicago at HomeTweet03/17/2012 9:23 PM
The Wolves outshot the Monsters 10-4 in a scoreless first period. Chicago forward Tim Miller carried the puck up the right side of the ice midway through the second period, spotted Reinprecht open on the two-on-one play, and after receiving a pass from Miller, Reinprecht faked to his backhand and fired a puck top-shelf on Desjardins for the game’s only goal. The Wolves recorded 20 shots in the middle frame, compared to seven for Lake Erie. The third period went much like the first, as neither team was able to score and Chicago outshot the Monsters 12-8, resulting in the 1-0 final score. Desjardins stopped 41 pucks on 42 shots, tying Gerald Coleman’s season-high for a Monsters goalie; Coleman achieved the feat on February 3, 2012 in San Antonio. Desjardins is 12-8-2. Matt Climie stopped all 19 Monsters shots for Chicago in earning his first shutout of the season. Climie’s individual record moves to 17-9-0. The Monsters are back in action Wednesday in Toronto against the North Division-leading Marlies, with the action beginning at 11:00 AM.
