Monsters Suffer First Road Loss

The Monsters traveled north for their first road game of the season to face the Toronto Marlies, and fell 6-2 on Friday night.

Neither team was able to find the net through the first period. But Toronto struck first, and often, in the second period, netting five straight goals. Matt Hussey scored for the Monsters at 17:07 in the second, assisted by Jeff Jillson and Dan DaSilva.

Cody McLeod put Lake Erie on the board again in the third, but following another Marlies goal, it would not prove to be enough. Mike Wall recorded 39 saves in goal for the Monsters, compared to 17 by Toronto's Scott Clemmensen.

The Monsters return home to The Q on Saturday for a back-to-back, facing Hamilton at 7:30 p.m., followed by a rematch with Toronto on Sunday. This is the first of four back-to-back-to-backs the Monsters will play this season.
