Finally Back Home TodayTweet11/09/2008 8:41 AM
There are quite a few positives to bring back to Cleveland once the trip is over. Four players- Rob Drummond, Tom Fritsche, Per Ledin and Aaron MacKenzie- all registered their first goals of the season during the first five contests of the six game swing. The team also saw one of its better players, T.J. Hensick, get called up to Colorado. Hensick showed off his skill over the first five games of the road trip, registering six points (4G, 2A) and earning a +/- rating of +5. Joining Hensick in Colorado is defenseman Kyle Cumiskey. In his first five games of the road trip, Cumiskey registered two assists, four penalty minutes and was a +1. Highlighting the trip was the most recent game, played November 1st at Toronto against the Marlies. Goaltender Tyler Weiman stopped all 37 shots the Marlies threw his way, earning the Monsters first shutout of the season while picking up the first road win of the young season as well. Captain Brian Willsie will look to pick up where he left off at home. The 30-year-old NHL veteran registered a goal in each of the first five home games, a current league high. Willsie went on to add a goal in the sixth and seventh games of the season, a Monsters franchise record and the current top mark in the AHL for this season. Currently, the Monsters are in sixth place in the North Division with a record of 4-5-0-1. The team will look to pick up where it left off prior to the road trip as they earned seven of a possible 10 points in the first five home games of the season, going 3-1-0-1. Coming off the road trip, the Monsters will play 12 of their next 14 games at The Q before they go on a brief four game road trip prior to the holiday season. |
