Monsters, Aeros Meet in HoustonTweet11/09/2012 12:29 PM
MATCHUP Game-four of a seven-game road trip features the Lake Erie Monsters (7-4-0-0) visiting the Houston Aeros (5-4-1-1) for the first meeting between the two clubs this season. The Monsters have won three of their last four games, and are 2-1-0-0 on their current stretch of road games. Houston is coming off a 6-4 home loss to the Toronto Marlies a night ago. The puck drops between the Monsters and Aeros at 8:05 PM Eastern. LAST TIME OUT The Monsters are coming off a 6-3 road loss to the Rockford IceHogs; a game in which the Monsters led 3-2 after 40 minutes before allowing four goals in the third period and falling to Rockford. Andrew Agozzino scored his fifth goal of the season for the Monsters, putting him in second on the Monsters in goals. Brad Malone registered a pair of assists in the game for his first multi-point game of the season; he had nine multi-point games last season. The Monsters allowed three power play goals to Rockford, who had six power plays in the game. When the Monsters allow more than one power play goal in a game this season, they are 0-2-0-0. Conversely, when the Monsters get at least one power play goal, they are 5-2-0-0. WHO TO WATCH: MONSTERS Captain Bryan Lerg had a three-game goal scoring streak snapped in Saturday's loss in Rockford, but Lerg still has six goals over his last eight games, and five goals in his last six games. Tyson Barrie, who currently paces the Monsters in points (10) and picked up a goal Saturday in Rockford, has five points over his last five games. Both players have shown the ability to change the course of a game in the Monsters favor on any shift early in the season. WHO TO WATCH: AEROS Charlie Coyle has five goals over his last seven games, and leads the Aeros with seven goals on the season. Coyle was a first round pick (28th overall) of the San Jose Sharks in 2010, and came over to the Minnesota Wild organization in a trade during the Summer of 2011. Coyle spent last season with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he tallied 38 points in 23 regular season games, and 34 points- including 15 goals - in 17 playoff games. WHERE TO LISTEN Tonight's game, live from Houston, begins at 8:05 PM Eastern on AM 1220 WHKW with Doug Plagens on the play-by-play.
