Sixth Straight OT Results in Win

Evan Brophey's tying goal with 95 seconds left in regulation and Brad Malone's overtime winner led the Lake Erie Monsters (31-25-2-4) to a 3-2 road victory over the Oklahoma City Barons Saturday night. It was the sixth consecutive extra-time game for the Monsters (four shootouts, two overtimes). The win was also the first in four tries for the Monsters against Oklahoma City this season.

David van der Gulik one-timed a Malone pass from the high slot to beat Barons goalie David LeNeveu at 9:07 of the first period. Luke Walker also assisted on van der Gulik's eighth goal of the season. The goal was a power play tally, the Monsters first power play goal after a streak of six games without scoring on the man advantage. The first period ended with the Monsters leading 1-0.

Oklahoma City's Josh Green scored a power play goal top-shelf on Monsters goalie Gerald Coleman at 13:06 of the second period for his second goal in as many nights, and Magnus Paajarvi scored on a wrist shot from the slot four minutes later to give the Barons a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of action.

With 95 seconds remaining and Coleman pulled in favor of the extra attacker, Peter MacArthur fired a shot from the slot, and Brophey banged in the rebound to tie the game for the Monsters at 2-2. The goal was Brophey's team-leading 17th goal of the season.

With 1:30 left in overtime, Dean Strong advanced a pass on the left wing for Malone, who unleashed a wrist shot in the upper far corner of the net to seal the 3-2 victory for the Monsters; the goal was his eighth of the season.

Coleman stopped 34 of 36 shots, and improves to 11-4-2. LeNeveu stopped 19 of 21 for Oklahoma City, and his record moves to 15-9-4.
