Watch T.J. Hensick at All-Star Tonight!

Lake Erie Monsters rookie center T.J. Hensick has been named to the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic. Currently in their inaugural season, Hensick is the first-ever player to represent the Monsters in the Classic.

Hensick will be a member of the PlanetUSA squad, which will compete against Team Canada. The PlanetUSA team is comprised of U.S. born players and those born in all countries other than Canada. The 2008 AHL All-Star Game presented by Reebok will be held on Monday, January 28th (7:00 p.m. ET) in Binghamton, NY.

The All-Star Game will be televised live in Cleveland and Columbus on FSN Ohio.  Check your local listings for availability.  There will also be a live webcast of the game, courtesy of B2 Network.

In 22 games as a Monster, Hensick has scored five goals and recorded 10 assists (15 points). He has spent two separate stints with the Monsters parent club, the Colorado Avalanche, and has recorded three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in 15 games. Hensick is one of only six first-year players to be named to the Classic.

“It’s a great honor and reward for a skilled player like T.J. to be invited to the All-Star game. The Monsters organization is proud of T.J. and looks forward to him representing the team amongst the best players in the AHL,” said Monsters general manager David Oliver.

While at the University of Michigan, Hensick built an impressive resume. In his senior year (2006-07), he led the nation in scoring with 69 points (23g/46a) in 41 games. He was named consensus first-team All-American and was honored as College Hockey News’ Player of the Year. He was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award in two of his four seasons at UM and was the CCHA Rookie of the Year in 2004-05.
