Lake Erie winger David van der Gulik is enjoying his season as one of the team’s premier forwards. Through 35 games with the Monsters this season, the product of Boston University has posted 20 points (10G, 10A), along with two points (1G, 1A) in five appearances with parent club Colorado.

Van der Gulik spent last season playing in his home town of Abbotsford, B.C., finishing second in the Heat’s lineup in assists (24), points (40) and plus-minus rating (+13) through 64 games played. His 16 goals ranked fourth on the club, while he racked up six points (4G, 2A) in 13 postseason games.

A seventh-round selection of Calgary in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, van der Gulik made his NHL debut in the 2008-09 season when he skated in six games with the Flames.

Within the last month, van der Gulik has supplied the Monsters with four multi-point games, including his first three-point outing (3A) of the season in a 4-1 victory over Hershey on February 24th.

Season Highlights:

October 8th: Assisted Matt Ford’s game-winning goal in 3-2 win over Syracuse in home opener.

October 20th: Recalled by parent club Colorado.

December 26th-December 29th: Recorded first set of back-to-back points, posting two assists in as many games.

February 14th: Recorded first multi-point game of the season (1G, 1A) on his way to taking first-star honors in 3-2 victory over Texas.

February 16th: Posted a goal and an assist, marking his second consecutive multi-point game in 4-2 win over Texas.

February 26th: Registered two points (1G, 1A) to take first-star honors in 3-2 victory over Grand Rapids.
