Monsters Admit Best, Worst Holiday GiftsTweet12/21/2010 11:07 AM
When asked about their most memorable holiday gifts growing up, here’s how some of our favorite Monsters responded: #5 David Liffiton: “A Mountain Bike.” #36 Ryan Lannon: “A silver trumpet. I played the trumpet growing up. I was all jacked up about getting the silver trumpet, and then about a month after I got it I quit. So it didn’t really work out, but I was pretty pumped up about getting it at the time.” #28 Curtis Fraser: “Boxing gloves. I had a pretty good hockey present that year, but I just remember how bad I wanted those boxing gloves. Santa was kind enough to get them for me.” #16 Justin Mercier: “Probably when my dad surprised me with a Sega Genesis. I wanted it so bad for months and I finally got it. I don’t think I let that thing out of my site for three months.” Assistant Coach Dan Laperriere: “A golf vacation to Florida.” #44 Travis Gawryletz: “A Harley Davidson t-shirt.” #35 Jason Bacashihua: “Remote control cars. I would always open them up and take them right out in the snow. It would get the batteries wet and they would die right away, so we’d always have to go to the store and get new ones.” When asked about the worst holiday gifts they ever received, here’s how some of our favorite Monsters responded: #28 Curtis Fraser: “A Bryan Adams CD. I got a Bryan Adams CD once and I was really wanting this special hockey stick.” #36 Ryan Lannon: “My father and I got home made, matching one-piece pajamas that were neither flattering nor fit very well. I think they got worn once and that was the end of them.” #5 David Liffiton: “Socks.” #16 Justin Mercier: “It wasn’t just once. My mom always gets me socks for Christmas. Who likes opening socks?” #44 Travis Gawryletz: “Well I guess you get socks every year in your stocking, so that’s gotta be up there.” #35 Jason Bacashihua: “It’s funny because we actually have Christmas parties and what we do is the family gets everyone gifts of like two or three dollars. I wanna say like two years ago I got probably 20 boxes of tissues.”
