Over the weekend, the Monsters extended their point streak to five games (3-0-1-1) by taking a 6-3 win over Chicago on Friday and forcing a shootout in Saturday’s game against Peoria. Lake Erie is 12-9-2-3 on the season and 7-3-2-2 at Quicken Loans Arena. The Monsters will begin a two-game set in Abbotsford on Tuesday, December 7th, at 10 p.m. 

Monsters vs. Wolves

In Friday’s 6-3 win over Chicago, center Patrick Rissmiller – who started the 2010-11 season with the Wolves – set a franchise record for goals in a game (4) and tied a Lake Erie record for points in a game (5).

After setting up Matt Ford’s game-tying goal in the first period, Rissmiller notched two power play goals, an even-strength tally and a shorthanded/empty-net goal. He became the first Monster to record a hat trick since Phil Dupuis netted a trio on December 22, 2009.

Through eight games with Lake Erie this season, Rissmiller has recorded 10 points (5G, 5A).

In the win, three other Monsters recorded multi-point games.

Center Ben Walter scored a goal and assisted on two others, marking his second three-point outing and third multi-point game of the season.

Ryan Stoa notched two assists for his third multi-point night in four games (4G, 2A).

Rookie Center Mark Olver posted two assists for his 15th point (6G, 9A) in 14 games.

Lake Erie’s win over Chicago concluded the four-game regular season series between the two teams. The Monsters went 1-2-1-0 against the Wolves.

Monsters vs. Rivermen

In the first of this season’s six meetings between Lake Erie and Peoria, the Monsters fell 3-2 in a shootout.

After climbing out of a one-goal deficit with a goal by Matt Ford, center Mike Carman put the Monsters ahead 2-1 with a shorthanded tally midway through the third period. Carman’s shorthander came as his fourth of the season, placing him first among AHL rookies and tied for first overall in shorthanded goals.

Former Monster T.J. Hensick set up Peoria’s game-tying goal with just 14 seconds remaining in regulation. After a scoreless overtime session in which both teams recorded four shots, Hensick lifted the Rivermen to their fourth consecutive victory by scoring in the third round of the shootout.

John Grahame made back-to-back starts in goal for Lake Erie. After posting 33 saves in Friday’s win, Grahame turned aside 31 against Peoria on Saturday, along with two more in the shootout. Grahame’s record stands at 3-3-1 on the season.

The Monsters have not lost a regulation game on home ice since November 13th (Milwaukee, 3-2).

With a 12-9-2-3 record, Lake Erie stands in third place in the North Division.
