What's On Tap...The End of the RoadTweet04/08/2010 9:22 AM
Compared to last season, the Monsters have an improved road record, as Lake Erie won 14 contests away from Quicken Loans Arena last season and dropped 22 games in regulation. This year, the Monsters have won 15 road contests and dropped just 18 games in regulation on enemy ice. For the second straight season, the Monsters will also look to improve on the previous year in the wins and points departments, respectively. The team has already matched their 34-win season from a year ago, and with two games left, the team sits at 76 points, a number that also is the equivalent to last season’s total. From an individual standpoint, center T.J. Hensick has already set franchise marks with 50 assists and 70 points in a season while captain Brian Willsie’s 26 goals are the most in a single season in Monsters history. Darren Haydar’s 63 points (23G, 40A) are second only to Hensick’s 70-point performance in a single season. Offensively speaking, the Monsters only had two players with more than 30 points last season while this season’s club features seven players who have eclipsed the 30-point plateau. Lake Erie also has three players – Hensick, Haydar and Willsie – who put up 20 goals or more this season. In Lake Erie’s first two seasons combined, only two players recorded more than 20 tallies in a year. Should Lake Erie be unable to eclipse the club-best marks of 34 wins and 76 points Friday, they’ll have one more shot at the franchise marks on Saturday, when they host the Abbotsford Heat at 7:30 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena for Fan Appreciation Night. This weekend's games will be broadcast on the Monsters flagship radio station, ESPN 850 WKNR. Listen Live on ESPN 850 WKNR | Watch here via AHL Live |
