This week, Monsters players Randy Rowe and Marty Sertich lent a helping hand at the IHOP in Steelyard Commons. IHOP was celebrating their fifth annual National Pancake Day.

In celebration of the big day, any customer who made any amount of a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital received a free stack of pancakes on National Pancake Day. The two Monsters teammates decided to partake in the celebration by serving as guest waiters for IHOP rather than filling up on flapjacks.

Rowe and Sertich grabbed an apron, washed their hands and got to work. While they didn’t have any training before their visit, Rowe and Sertich did their best to assist with handing out pancakes, delivering drinks, and making sure the customers were satisfied. If the pair weren’t helping the wait staff, then they were chatting with the local customers who were enjoying their free pancakes.

Now that National Pancake Day has ended, Rowe and Sertich are back on the ice and preparing for a three game weekend at The Q. It’s probably best they stick to their day jobs.
