2009-10 Midyear Review...Ryan Stoa

A rookie left wing from Bloomington, Minnesota, Ryan Stoa was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2nd round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He was a member of the U.S. National Under-18 team and played at the University of Minnesota before turning pro with the Monsters this season.

Stoa led the Minnesota Golden Gophers in goals (24), points (46), and penalty minutes (76) in 2008-09. Currently, Stoa leads the Monsters in goals (17), is third in points (22), and has put up five multi-point games.

The young rookie has been making his mark in the AHL as his 17 goals are first among AHL rookies and Stoa is tops among first-year players with eight power play markers. The former Golden Gopher also made his NHL debut this season, appearing in two games with the Avalanche.
