FSN Ohio to be Television Home of MonstersTweet10/12/2007 12:57 PM
“This represents a very big step for the Monsters. A television package of this level will be great for our fans, our partners and the franchise. We think the Monsters are going to redefine what pro hockey has meant in Cleveland recently and having a significant number of our games shown on FSN Ohio will help make that happen. Our relationship with FSN Ohio has been one of the best in pro sports over many years with the Cavaliers and we think their broadcast team is simply the best,” said Bubolz. “As the premier regional sports network in Cleveland, FSN Ohio continues to offer fans the best local and regional sporting events. As a proud, long-time partner of the Cavaliers, we jumped at the chance to further our commitment to our viewers by covering the Lake Erie Monsters. We look forward to offering Northeast Ohio hockey fans the unparalleled coverage they’ve come to expect from FSN Ohio,” said Liverani. The television play-by-play call will be handled by the voice of the Monsters John Michael. Michael also calls all games on the radio home of the Monsters - WKNR 850 AM. Monsters TV broadcasts will be simulcast on radio. Michael spent the prior two seasons as the play-by-play voice of the AHL’s Springfield Falcons (Tampa Bay Lightning) and was the 2005 East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Broadcaster of the Year (Johnstown Chiefs). He holds undergraduate, graduate and law degrees from the University of Notre Dame. Joining Michael as the game analyst will be former pro, Chris Longo. Longo played 11 pro seasons, including four in Cleveland. The gritty former forward is originally from Belleville, Ontario and was a 3rd round pick of the Washington Capitals in the 1990 NHL Draft. The FSN Ohio Monsters 20-game broadcast schedule features 14 home games and six special road match-ups in Rockford, Hamilton, Syracuse, Peoria, Iowa, and the regular season finale in Rochester. The full schedule is attached.
