Jock Callander Joins Lake Erie Monsters

The Lake Erie Monsters added a familiar face to their team in December of 2006.  Former Cleveland Lumberjack Jock Callander was named Director, Hockey & Community Relations for Cleveland's new AHL franchise.  Callander will serve as the primary liaison with the Colorado Avalanche on player transactions and team travel and he will also represent the organization as the ambassador of hockey.

Callander served as an Assistant Coach for the Houston Aeros (AHL) during the 2001-02 season and he was with the Cleveland Lumberjacks (IHL) as an Assistant Coach the season prior (2000-01).  He concluded his 18-year professional career as a player following the 1999-2000 season.  During that time, Callander tallied 1,402 points in 1,303 pro career games. He posted 22-29-51, 116 PIM in 109 career NHL games with Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, including a Stanley Cup Championship with the Penguins in 1992.

Callander played 15 of his 18 pro seasons with the Muskegon/Cleveland Lumberjacks and was a member of the 1986 and 1989 Turner Cup Championship squads.  He posted three consecutive 82-game seasons with Muskegon from 1984-87, and registered a pro career high 54-82-136 during the 1986-87 campaign.  Callander was a member of the inaugural roster for the Atlanta Knights during the 1992-93 season, but returned to Cleveland the following year, where he would play for seven more seasons before announcing his retirement.

Callander's name will forever be synonymous with IHL scoring, as he is the IHL's all-time leader in scoring with 1,402 IHL career points (regular season and playoffs), and ranks second in assists with 848  and third in goals with 554.  Named twice to the IHL First-Team All-Star team (1986-87 and 1991-92), Callander played in four IHL All-Star Games, including his last appearance at Houston January 17, 2000.

A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Callander is the father of three sons, Chase, 16, Pierson, 12, and Cade, 5 months, and a daughter, Mackenzi, 13.  Jock is married and his wife's name is Bethany.
