Friday, October 7th is sure to go down in Lake Erie Monsters franchise history. Not only will the team begin celebrating its 5th Anniversary Season in Cleveland, but expects to welcome its One Millionth Fan. In honor of both feats, the Monsters are teaming up with FirstEnergy Solutions to reward five lucky fans with free electric generation for a year!

Opening night will also feature a free Monsters magnetic schedule giveaway (courtesy of Parma Community General Hospital), the first Dollar Dog Friday of the season (with one dollar hot dogs and sodas, thanks to Sugardale and Pepsi) and a free postgame open skate.

The Monsters are coming off their best season in franchise history in 2010-11. With a record of 44-28-3-5 (96 points), the team set franchise records for total wins in a season, home wins in a season (24), road victories in a single campaign (20) and total points in a season (96). The team posted the best overall, home (24-11-2-3) and road records (20-17-1-2) in franchise history. The Monsters also finished second in the North Division, a franchise best, and made their first-ever playoff appearance.

Also in 2010-11, the Monsters posted the highest average attendance in the history of the franchise (6,568), which ranked sixth in the 30-team American Hockey League. The team had the top-ranked average attendance in the league for the 2010-11 postseason. The 8,069 was tops out of the 16 teams in the playoffs.
