This week the Monsters welcomed 1st-12th grade students to Quicken Loans Arena for a Take the Ice event presented by Charter One.

To start the event, In-Arena Host Olivier Sedra was joined by Lake Erie players Joel Chouinard and Justin Mercier to talk with the kids about the importance of teamwork, respecting peers and valuing education.

Sedra also explained the jobs that are involved in running a professional sports team, including the functions of marketing and game operations.

The kids had an opportunity to ask questions and inquire about potential career paths, while they enjoyed audio and video presentations on the video board.

Charter One has sponsored two Take the Ice events at The Q this month (February 2nd and February 15th). On February 2nd, members of the after school program Merrick House were invited to attend the event, while Friendly Inn Settlement was on hand this week.

At both events, kids enjoyed an opportunity to skate with members of the Lake Erie Monsters and they received tickets to an upcoming game at the end of the event.
