After the first 42 minutes of Saturday's game went by scoreless, the Lake Erie Monsters held a 1-0 third-period lead until giving up the tying goal with 14 seconds left in regulation, followed by allowing the game winner less than a minute into overtime. The late pair of IceHogs goals handed the Monsters a 2-1 loss in Rockford in a penalty-riddled contest.

Lake Erie has lost six of its last seven games and is now 13-12-3-4 on the season, including going winless in three overtime attempts.

The first two periods saw neither team score, as the Monsters registered 20 combined shots to Rockford's 21.

Curtis Fraser broke the scoreless tie 2:29 into the third period with his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Patrick Bordeleau.

It looked as though the Monsters would leave Rockford with the 1-0 shutout until Jeremy Morin tied it up with his power play goal with 14 seconds remaining in the game.

Peter LeBlanc made quick work of the overtime session, scoring 53 seconds into the extra frame, giving the IceHogs the 2-1 win.

John Grahame recorded 29 saves on the 31 shots he faced in goal for the Monsters. It was his first game for Lake Erie since December 7th.

Rockford netminder Hannu Toivonen stopped 25 of 26 shots in the IceHogs win.

The two teams combined for 16 infractions and 50 penalty minutes in the game.

Lake Erie will finish its three-game/three-night road trip in Peoria on Sunday afternoon.
