This week it’s part 1 of Ben Holden's two-part interview with Monsters defenseman Travis Gawryletz, who joined the team last November and was a very big part of the defensive corps for head coach David Quinn. Gawryletz was impressive with his steady, consistent and smart play on the back end. He’s spending the offseason in Calgary and is working extremely hard to maintain his tremendous physical conditioning and is working to get even stronger for the coming season with the Monsters.

In this recent interview with Gawryletz, Holden talked with him about signing an AHL deal with the Monsters for the 2010-11 season. They also looked back at his season and the Lake Erie season in 2009-10 and discussed his excitement and anticipation of his second AHL season coming up. Gawrlytz also touched on his ability to transition nicely from the ECHL to the AHL style of play and tempo. The two also talked about Gawryletz’s ability to bring a top-notch work ethic and commitment to the ice every night; and some of the people, players and coaches, who influenced him last season here in Lake Erie.
