What's on Tap
The Monsters look to get back in the win column Friday and Saturday when they host the Houston Aeros at Quicken Loans Arena for a set of home games. The last time the two teams met, October 21st, the Monsters earned their second shutout of the season in a 1-0 win at Houston.

Here are some items to note before this weekend's games:
  • The Houston Aeros are currently on a two-game winning streak.
  • Houston has the league’s most proficient penalty killing unit, having given up just two power play goals all season. The Aeros enter the weekend with a 96.4 success rate on the penalty kill.
  • Houston's overall defense is one of the stingiest in the AHL. On average, the Aeros allow 25.87 shots against each game, which is the lowest in the AHL.
  • Houston center Nathan Smith spent the entire 2008-09 season with the Monsters, recording 16 points (6G, 10A) and 42 penalty minutes in 44 games with Lake Erie. Prior to getting injured in mid-January and being sidelined for the rest of the season, Smith was one of three Monsters to wear the captain’s “C.”
  • Monsters goalie Tyler Weiman is currently on a shutout streak of 122:59 against the Houston Aeros, a streak that dates back to January 18th, 2009. In the Monsters first game against Houston this year, October 21st, Weiman made 27 saves in a 1-0 win. On April 4th, 2009, Weiman turned away 21 shots in a 3-0 Monsters win at home against the Aeros. The last time Houston scored a goal on Weiman was in their 2-1 win against the Monsters on January 18th, when Jason Ryznar scored the game-winner with three minutes left in regulation.
  • Lake Erie forward Chris Durno is currently on a seven-game point streak, racking up 11 points (6G, 5A) in that time.
Both games this weekend and every game this season will be broadcast on the Monsters flagship radio station, ESPN 850 WKNR.  Listen Live on ESPN 850 WKNR | Watch here via AHL Live
