Center Marty Sertich
In his third year as a professional, Monsters center Marty Sertich posted solid offensive numbers despite being limited to 24 games. A pint-sized product of Colorado College, the 5’8, 165-pound Sertich collected 15 points (7G, 8A) on the season. Sertich’s nine power play points (4G, 5A) were third on the team. Sertich came to the Monsters via trade, as he was acquired from the Dallas Stars for a conditional selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft on June 10th, 2008. Born in Roseville, Minnesota, Sertich tied for the team lead with two shootout goals, as he converted on 40 percent (2/5) of his shootout attempts. The crafty center missed 25 games from mid-December to mid-February, returned for a game and was sidelined for the rest of the season, both times with a head injury. Highlights • October 11th, 2008: Recorded first goal as a Monsters in 4-3 season-opening win against Grand Rapids. • November 19th, 2008: Registered first multi-point and multi-goal game of the year (2G) in 5-4 loss against Chicago; named third star of the game. • November 29th, 2008: Recorded second multi-point game of the season (1G, 1A); notched game-winning goal; named first star of the game in win against Toronto. • December 12th – December 17th, 2008: Recorded assists in four consecutive games (5A). • December 17, 2008: Recorded two assists; scored twice in the shootout in 5-4 shootout loss at Toronto. • December 20th, 2008: Registered his second multi-goal game and fourth multi-point game (2G); scored game-winning goal; named second star of the game in 4-0 win at Syracuse.
