The Colorado Avalanche announced Friday that
goaltender Jose Theodore will start in Saturday's franchise opener for the Monsters. He will complete his rehabilitation here in Cleveland before returning to Colorado on Sunday.
This season marks Theodore's 12th in the NHL, having played nine seasons for the Montreal Canadiens before joining the Avs in 2006. He has played in 391 NHL games, compiling a 2.68 GAA and .909 save percentage.
"Jose is in the final stages of his rehabilitation work and both our hockey staff and he agreed that actual game action would be the way to complete this process," said Avalanche Executive Vice President and General Manager Francois Giguere.
