Quicken Loans Arena will be on ice this fall as the new home team, the Lake Erie Monsters, makes its franchise debut on October 6th.
Opening night will be the first of 40 games played at The Q during the team’s inaugural 2007-08 season.
The schedule will feature 26 home weekend games, including eight Friday games, 13 Saturday games, and five Sunday games. This season’s 13 contests will be the most Saturday night games in Cleveland professional hockey history. All Friday and Saturday home games will begin at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday games will start at 5:00 p.m. All weekday games at The Q will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 6th will be a historic night for hockey in the region. It will be an evening full of excitement as the inaugural Monsters team is introduced to local fans for the first time. Fans should expect the same high-energy game presentation that The Q has become known for.
Another highlight at The Q this winter will be two double-headers, with the Cavaliers playing on the hardwood in the afternoon and the Monsters taking the ice in the evening. On November 24th, the Cavs will take on Toronto at 1:00 p.m. before the arena is turned over for the Monsters to face Manitoba at 7:30 p.m. The second double-header will take place on March 8th, when the Cavs go up against Indiana in the matinee and the Monsters face Grand Rapids in the nightcap.
The Monsters will take the ice for the American Hockey League’s customary 80-game schedule as part of the North Division in the Western Conference.
“The Monsters are alive now!” said Monsters President Kerry Bubolz. “After all of our planning and preparation, we are getting very close to lacing up the skates, taking the ice, and battling in the AHL. We are thrilled to bring professional hockey back to the region, and to provide an electric environment to cheer on the Monsters.”
Full, partial, and group ticket plans for the inaugural season of Monsters hockey are on sale now. Individual game tickets will go on sale closer to the start of the season on a date soon to be announced.
