Monsters End Road Trip in Rockford

MATCHUP
The Lake Erie Monsters will look to end their weekend tour of the Midwest Division on a winning note in Rockford against the IceHogs, a team that has managed a win against the Monsters in each of the three meetings this season between the two clubs. The Monsters are coming off a 3-1 loss in Chicago a night ago, and are 0-4-0-3 over their last seven contests. Rockford has won three-of-five games since dropping six straight games, and topped Abbotsford at home 7-2 a night ago on the strength of five first-period goals. The last time the two teams met, Rockford escaped The Q with a 4-3 shootout win over the Monsters on November 24, 2012.

LAST TIME OUT
Two first period goals for Chicago proved to be too much for the Monsters to overcome last night, as Chicago won 3-1. Paul Carey scored the only goal of the game- and only goal of the second period- for the Monsters. His power play goal, and 12th goal of the season, was assisted by Brad Malone and Luke Walker. Kent Patterson stopped 26 of 29 shots in net, and has a combined 52 saves over the last two nights.

WHO TO WATCH: MONSTERS
Paul Carey continued to have the hot hand offensively for the Monsters, scoring the team's only goal on a hustling wrap-around backhand effort. He has 12 goals on the season, three power play goals, and now has nine goals over his last 16 games.

WHO TO WATCH: ICEHOGS
Jimmy Hayes has four goals and six points over his last six games for the IceHogs, including an assist last night against Abbotsford, and with several changes to the Rockford lineup over the last month, will be counted on for consistent production.

TUNE IN
All of tonight's action, live from Rockford, can be heard live beginning at 6:00 PM on AM 1220 WHKW with Doug Plagens on the play-by-play.
