The Lake Erie Monsters had a complete reversal of fortune on Friday night.  After winning by the score of 6-3 in their last game, at Quad City on Wednesday, the Monsters ended Friday's game with the same score, only this time they were on the wrong end of it.  Lake Erie fell, 6-3, to the Wolves in Chicago.  It was the third of four games in five nights for the Monsters. 

In Wednesday's victory, Lake Erie scored five straight goals in the third period to get the win.  In Friday's loss, they gave up four unanswered goals to the Wolves in the final period. 

Chicago outshot Lake Erie, 36-21, in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

The two sides felt each other out for the first half of the opening period before Dan DaSilva put the Monsters on the scoreboard for the first time.  His power play goal at 11:18 of the first was assisted by Johnny Boychuk. The Monsters would retain the 1-0 lead through the end of the period.

The Wolves flexed their home ice advantage immediately in the second stanza, as Grant Lewis scored just :47 seconds in.  The helpers were given to Jason Krog and Darren Haydar.

Brett Sterling gave Chicago the lead immediately thereafter at the 1:18 mark, assisted by Krog and Haydar again.

The successive scoring continued with Boychuk finding the back of the net himself, tying the game up at 2:45 of the second.  Jamie Lundmark and Jeff Jillson were credited with the assists. Boychuk has posted five points (3G, 2A) in the last four games for the Monsters. 

After three quick goals in the first  few minutes of the middle period, neither team was able to light the lamp again.  The second ended in a 2-2 tied. 

That would not last long, however, as Eric Healey put the Monsters ahead with his power play goal :42 seconds into the third period. T.J. Hensick and Lundmark received the assists.  Healey leads the Monsters with 42 points (18G, 24A) on the season, including recording 10 points in the last eight games. Lundmark has four points (1G, 3A) in the past three games.

The Wolves would take over from there. 

Krog scored for himself, unassisted, at the 3:27 point of the third.  Then after going half a period without a score, Chicago would rattle off three goals over three minutes to seal the deal.

Haydar scored on a power play at 15:33, assisted by Sterling and Krog.

Immediately after, the Wolves converted on another man advantage when Brian Fahey scored at the 16:03 mark.  He was helped by Steve Martins and Chad Denny.

Jesse Schultz wrapped up the Chicago scoring with his goal at 18:35 off passes from Joe Motzko and Martins, giving the Wolves their final 6-3 win.

Lake Erie went 3/7 on the power play, while Chicago was 2/8 on the night.

Jason Bacashihua was between the pipes for the Monsters, posting 30 saves on 36 shots.  On the other end of the ice, Ondrej Pavelec had 18 saves on 21 shots in the win.

The Monsters finish up their four-game/five-night road swing in Grand Rapids on Saturday.
